Or rather, finding a way to make both types of work more simplified and automated. Obviously, you can’t automate things with your kids the way you can with business. But having an online business has ways to create and automate workflows, so you can get the same amount of work done but in less time.
And being a mom requires multi-tasking and super-human scheduling skills to get everything done in less time as well.
So being an online mompreneur requires a unique set of skills, including super-human time management, stellar organization, and the ability to multitask or habit stack. These women are often highly motivated and driven, with a strong desire to create a better life for themselves and their families. Is that you? If so, read on! The rise of mompreneurs can be attributed to several factors, including the advancement of technology, which has made it easier and more affordable for women to start their businesses from home.
But the biggest rise has happened since 2020. When the pandemic hit and everyone was at home, moms started thinking about how they could make money from home. And how they could contribute to their family’s financial success while also watching their kids.
In addition, the desire for flexibility in work hours and the need for a better work-life balance have also played a significant role in the growth of online mompreneurs in recent years.
Many moms got used to working from home and being closer to their kids. No commute meant they got extra time back into their day to spend with their family. They also were more present and available for after-school activities and sports. And they could get more time at home during the summer too.
With the rise of social media and e-commerce platforms, mompreneurs have been able to reach a wider audience and grow their businesses more quickly than ever before. Many have also found success through networking with other mompreneurs and collaborating on projects and events.
And all of this is made possible because there isn’t a huge start up cost with an online business like you would have with a traditional brick and mortar business.

Many mompreneurs have created products and services that help make parenting easier and more enjoyable, such as eco-friendly baby products, meal delivery services, and even parenting blogs and podcasts.

Becoming a mompreneur can be an exciting and fulfilling journey, but it can also be challenging. As a mompreneur, you’re not only responsible for running a business, but also for taking care of your family.
Finding the right balance between these two roles can be difficult at first, but with the right strategies and support system, it truly is possible to achieve success in both areas.
For me personally, I have to create workflows for creating content that make it easier for me to show up in my business.
These workflows help me stay on top of my content efforts, even on those days I don’t feel like creating or it’s just mass chaos in our house. It’s like creating small habits that make up a routine to follow.
These small habits with your content become your workflows. They become your new routine in your business and your life in general. And these routines make it easier to transition from one phase of motherhood to the next.
Time Management Strategies for Mompreneurs
One of the biggest challenges that every mompreneur faces is managing their time effectively. Between running a business and taking care of children, it can be difficult to find time for everything. It’s important to set realistic goals and prioritize different tasks.
One effective strategy is to break down large tasks into smaller, more manageable ones. Seems simple, right? This is called batch work. I do this when creating content, designs for social media, and even writing emails. Batching like types of work together will help you work on the same things all at once. You don’t have to waste time trying to switch between tasks or getting your brain transitioned from one task to another.
This will help you stay focused and avoid procrastination. You can also try using time management tools, apps or timers, to help you stay on track. Some of my favorite time management tools to try are Monday, Asana, and ClickUp. A great free timer app is Toggl. Or try TimeTrack, which breaks up your time into blocks or windows like time blocking.
Another helpful tip is to use a calendar or planner to keep track of upcoming deadlines and appointments. This will help you stay organized and ensure that you don’t miss any important events. You can even create your own planner or calendar using Notion. Or if you prefer pen and paper, this is my favorite planner on Amazon. It’s undated, so you can use it as you need.
You can also try setting aside dedicated time each day for specific tasks, such as checking emails or working on a project, to help you stay focused and productive. This is considered time blocking.

Setting Boundaries Between Work and Family Life
It’s important to set clear boundaries between your work and family life. This just makes sure every aspect of your life succeeds. Communicate with your husband and kids about your work schedule and set aside dedicated time to work.
It’s also important to take breaks throughout the day to recharge and refocus your energy on both your business and your family. This can include taking a walk, practicing yoga, or simply taking a few minutes to relax and read a book.
And believe me, I know how hard this can be. I have one day per week that my kids are in school and day care, so I have dedicated time to work. On those days I’m tempted to just work straight through. But my productivity and my work itself suffers if I do that. It’s important to take breaks when needed to keep your mind sharp and your ideas creative.

She says when she gets home, her and her husband flip the switch from work life to home life. And they always keep that boundary. For me, my boundaries are no work on Sundays whatsoever. I mean none. And the majority of my work is done on Tuesdays. But I will do a few small things during the week always leaving my Friday through Sunday open.
There may be times where I might do a few things on Friday or Saturday if need be, but Sundays are always a no work day for me. And I try to do long weekends, so I can have Fun Fridays with my kids during the school year for my littles still and home. And then also for my older kids too during the summer.

Joining networking groups or attending conferences can also be a great way to connect with other like-minded individuals and gain new insights and strategies.
I highly suggest finding facebook groups with other moms running an online business while staying home with their kids.
Having a support system of other women who know exactly what you’re going through can and will help you stay motivated and accountable. Plus, it’s always nice to share your goals and your business wins with others who truly understand.
